DAY 6-8

be DAY SIX TO EIGHT
this post will finish up the series of posts chronicling the 8 day mission trip i went for.

so after we finished the painting job, we could actually relax and enjoy our weekend!

eating lunch and chilling out.
sitting back and talking MOSTLY about NS, you see, when Eric, PASTOR Eric and Uncle Check come together, besides how faithful God has been, there really isnt much to talk about except NS, which in itself is a wonderful topic. lol.
high chance they're also talking about the army here.
then we were brought around and we visited this church.
and this cool school, this is the hall, i cldnt be bothered to take pictures of the classrooms.
this is the scenery behind the school, what a beautiful picture eh.(YES it wld be made better without me in it, thats what all of you are thinking right? :) well God still loves me.)
Pastor ying used to be a drug addict and this is the drug rehabilitation centre he was in and where he was converted.
hmm, i thought it was good to take such a picture, so natural, nobody wld ever pose like this.
then we went to golden triangle, its the place where myanmmar, laos and thailand are all at the same spot.
the left is myanmmar the right is laos and where i took the picture is thailand.
the spot where the 3 countries meet is where we were at. lol, i wonder who would ever buy a HARD drink. must be frozen.
we also went to the hall of opium, its a super well designed museum that talks about the history of opium, how it became a drug, the opium wars, etc etc. very interesting.
the museum is in a journey format, showing the history in order and at the end of the "journey", the guys all saw the toilet sign, so we were thinking of just going toilet to make liquid gold, then when we entered, we realised it was a PROPER toilet, like you noe the ones you have in NORMAL shopping malls, we went mad!(go back to the previous posts to see the toilets we had previously been using)
Suddenly all the cubicles were being used and before long, lots of solid gold was made. it was the hardest i had laughed all week.
modelling.lol.this was taken while the truck was travelling at like 120, so u can imagine how strong the wind is,i was almost blown off! which is why i wanna be 80kg, so wind cant blow me off!this pic of tim is the bomb. this picture of liesel is DA BOMB.
superwoman!

then we went to this flower park, it is said that the queen she wanted a flower park built and the govt IMMEDIATELY got it built. cool eh. we are INSIDE the clouds!!!! oh my i was so excited, i was screaming like a mad cow. that was how high up we were.
this was on the way back to the church from the park, it was raining, we were freezing, that is the most enjoyable pick up truck ride of the entire week.memorable.
other random photos. check it out man, i've heard of the phrase "better be safe than sorry" but this is ridiculous.
the 2nd last night, all looking tired and shagged out.(lol its posed.)
okay okay okay, i love this part, this entire house, and yes its quite big, was built by ONE MAN, OMG, thats not the end, he did it with A PARANG, the straw thingy and BAMBOOS. so no metal, no wood, NOTHING. THATS WHAT I CALL CAPABLE.
sunday service the thai kids performing an item.
and then we went back to the school to take model photos, it was so hilarious, ps eric and eric were like art directing everyone, how to stand etc. lol. madness.
joke man....lol.
oh i love this picture, is that photography or wad. gosh. ive got a future man.
we needed to be at chiangrai airport by 6 so we had to wake up at 4 and leave the place at 4.30, so this is the last picture of our room while we were packing up and getting ready to leave. oh my. im starting to feel sad already. i really miss the trip man.the last picture before we left. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
below are some random nature pictures that i took.what a beautiful rainbow!
i LOVE THIS PICTURE, and yes I AM THE ONE WHO TOOK IT, i really shld send it in for competitions or sth like that right. omg. click on it to see the enlarged version, its so beautiful. got the water droplet down there summore. bomb la. and i took it with my HANDPHONE camera! :O i love my phone.
we'll be back.............i actually was feeling abit homesick on the last day, like miss my frens and family and my bed and just singapore la, it felt so good to be back i tell you, but all of a sudden, everything seems so weird, for the 8 days we always sat together, girls and guys, and just talked and laughed, and we really connected alot, then all of a sudden, on monday night, im sitting on my bed, staring at the ceiling, i hear nothing. no crickets sound, i see nothing, no moths flying around.
i feel like a long dream has ended, i have just awoken.
even though not all the memories were sweet, i'll go thru it all again, just to remind myself of what God has taught me.
Hebrews 13:5
I will never leave you nor forsake you.

DAY 3 - 5

From day 3 to day 5, for 3 consecutive days, we painted the school, below is a picture of what one of the classrooms looked like before it was painted.
Eunice overseeing the mixing of the paint.
Uncle Check and eric shifting the tables in the classrooms so we have space to move around and paint the classroom.
Pastor eric checking out the place.
ERIC.

Lol, can roughly imagine jenisse's mind is like "oh no, this is gonna be a tough mission trip!" lol. she handled it so well though. good job! :)
Daryl and timmy trying to peel off paper from the wall (its the 2nd most irritating job)
Pastor Ying, this is the pastor in charge of the church we were staying at. pastor eric, daryl and i played basketball with him. and i only can say one thing. his basketball skills, DA bomb.
painting!
and painting! (this is the hardest job in the whole project, stupid holes. my greatest sympathies to daryl joy jenisse tim and liesel who did the holes. i was a roller.lol)
and....
One of the days we were brought up the hill to get lunch, the lunch was just. indescribable.
look at eric, he's like digging the soup for more ! its noodles btw, i dunno what noodles, wanton and stuff, all the guys ate 2 bowls, and one bowl was already super filling, but the nice ness, sigh CANNOT resist!
on the pickup truck back to the worksite. the travelling back and forth on the truck was one of the highlights of the trip, LITERALLY living on the edge. SUPER fun. esp when it rains and the driver is driving at 120, oh my. EXCITING.
Painting again....
and again..
and again....well, we do get tired...and THEN we start slacking.... lol.
WE FINISHED THE JOB ON FRIDAY! now thats what i mean by fast workers! oh btw, if ur thinking we're mad cos gatorade is so expensive and we're all holding a bottle each, its cos it sells for less than one sing dollar over there.(gatorade in singapore is almost 3 bucks per bottle.) so we swept the shelves cos we felt energy drinks will help us work faster. im not sure it did. but it sure did taste good!
oh gosh. move aside backstreet boys! here comes baptist boys! The school after its painted. what a pretty pretty sight!

God was gracious as he's always been.

DAY ONE

IM BACK FROM THAILAND. oh man, i wanna blog about the mission trip, but the moment i stop to think, i find there's no way i can put all that i wanna say into words.

amazing.

i think about words like spectacular, amazing, incredible, out of this world, im thinking, even with all these words joined to describe the past eight days, it wldnt even suffice.

God alone knows.
DAY 1 MONDAY

In the morning, i wake up quite early, our flight's in the afternoon so i wanna use my com and enjoy my singapore life a little more before i leave for thailand, excited i think, was what i was feeling, 8 days from home in a place you know doesnt have hotel like facilities, man this is the way to live life!

i leave my hse to go queens' condo cos jen's mum is fetching timmy and i there.

at the airport we eat our fantastic(everyone loved it, but i think it was quite ordinary no?)popeye lunch and we get ready for the trip.

waiting for the flight.check out the menu on the. i dunno whether it was on purpose or wad. but lemon glass? lol kidding me man.

the way we get to chiangrai(the mission pt) is by taking a plane to bangkok then from bangkok to chiangrai. so this picture below is that of bangkok airport.

settling down for our lunch in bangkok airport. the eatery in bangkok airport.
commando pastor eric eating lunch. hahahahah. NS rocks.

DAY 2

continuation of DAY ONE

this are addition pictures of the team at bangkok airport before we departed to chiangrai

tjin sleeping in the plane. lol i dunno why im posting this picture, i just felt the need to.lol.
We are in the (whatever you call it) vehicle to the church on the mountains, the church is 2 and a half hours away from the airport, and its really really really high up. lol.
this is the guys' room. This picture is actually taken in DAY 2 morning.

it was actually much better than we expected, but the pictures dont paint the full picture, if you think we had sweet dreams just cos we got mattresses and pillows. you are so wrong. so so wrong. right jenisse? :D we reached the church around 12am to 1am, so we immediately settled down and went to sleep.

DAY 2 TUESDAY

We were supposed to start our painting of the school on day 2(TUESDAY) but apparently the resources and all that werent ready and the person in charge cldnt make it down in time so we spent the whole day exploring the village and we taught english to the chinese thai kids.lol
here we are(above) exploring the school, this is one of the classrooms.
Look at the ceiling, its so nicely done, i wonder why is the ceiling so nicely done while everything esle is so broken down. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm the benches here are the cutest u'll find. i've heard of people trying to cut down on the amt of wood used, but making a seat that can only cover a quarter of ur butt is ridiculous.
The toilets at the school, the toilet bowls are at different heights for different age groups. lol thats the funniest thing i've seen all year.
The youths! 6 of us, 5 from JAM and timothy from TRAFFIC.
LOL, pastor eric "bathing" under this gigantic sunflower.
The above picture is that of the full team with the exception of uncle Check's wife and 2 kids. The toilets at the church we were staying yet, pretty similar to that at the school, just slightly bigger and the water we bathed with had beetles, moths, and any other small creatures u can possibly think of floating in them. oh wait, i forgot to mention tadpoles. :)
Since we cldnt start painting on day 2, we were tasked to teach english, ONLY the 6 youths, while the adults do the picture taking. lol i wonder why. so we were split in to groups. joy and tim above attempting to teach english.
Liesel and daryl
Jenisse and i.

THEN we went back to the church to practice our song singing and stuff. it was a pretty alrite day overall. not very eventful, but it sure was a pleasure teaching those kids.

man, u'll never understand why Singaporean kids are so apathetic in lessons if you see the attitude these thai kids have man, they were practically shouting out answers. but of course not everyone la. majority.
ur reaction will forever stay in my head. its hard to let go when the hurt was that deep. u'll nv know i was actually talkin about you.
God taught me trust on this day.
